For those that prefer to dine low on the food chain...
"Original Worm Snax". I saw these at Planet Sweet by the cash register, and my mind immediately started working on ways to gross people out with these. Needless to say, I couldn't leave the store without a package of Mexican Spice flavored Larvets.
Yes, they're worms. Mealworms, to be exact. You can see the little heads and feet on them. But apparently they're intended for human consumption, so one day when Mike was over, I pulled out the pack. Showed it to him, let him read it, then pulled out a worm, stuck it on my tongue, and ate it. Quite crunchy. Tasted slightly like a BBQ roasted peanut, though there wasn't much to it. Mike was almost sick. It wasn't that bad. But I don't like peanuts much either. Nothing to write home about, flavor wise. Eventually, I got Mike to try one. My comments of "Oooohhh, it looks almost alive!" and "See the little head? The feet?" didn't help much. I put a worm onto the palm of his hand and he threw it back almost as if hoping it'd bypass his mouth and throat completely landing right in his stomach. Or perhaps bypass his *head* entirely and hit the wall behind him without my noticing. Mike was almost sick. Wuss.
